Understanding the process of getting started

The First Steps

Whether you have been through the process before or if this is your first time to reach out to a professional to help your child as a parent or guardian, we want to make the process as smooth as possible. As mentioned, when we receive a referral from you we will confirm that we have received it. We will update you if there are any current waiting times. When you are offered an appointment, we will send you forms to fill out. You will get these forms via email and a code sent to your phone to access them. The forms included will be a case history form, consent form and any other relevant forms/questionnaires. Should you have any trouble with filling these out, please feel free to get in contact with Lisa-Ann. Prior to the first appointment, Lisa-Ann will schedule a short phone call for further details and an informal or formal assessment will be offered based on the child’s needs and information gathered.

Payment of Fees

An invoice/receipt is emailed at the end of each session. Fees can be paid by card, cheque, EFT or cash after each session, if sessions are carried out face to face. Other fees can be paid by EFT or a payment link will be sent within the invoice to pay by card.

A receipt is provided after each session. Please retain your receipts for making any claims to health insurance or on the MED1 form.

Claiming back on fees

Part of your therapy fees (approximately 20%) can be claimed from the revenue on MyAccount.ie annually if you are a PAYE employee. If you have private health insurance, please contact your provider regarding the possibility of claiming back part of your assessment and/or therapy fees. If your insurance refunds part of the cost, you can apply for a further claim on fees not claimed for using the MED 1
form.

If self-employed you can claim this relief through your annual accounts. You may need the therapist’s IASLT no. when claiming back (IA205848) Cocoon Speech & Language Therapy do not take any responsibility for claiming this relief. Please retain your receipts if you should be audited.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel an appointment please contact by phone call or text at your earliest convenience. A cancellation with more than 24 hours notice before the scheduled appointment is free of charge.

As children can become unwell at short notice, 1 therapy session cancellation per year at less than 24 hours notice will be free of charge. Subsequent cancellations of 24 hours notice or less, will incur a standard fee of €30 for therapy appointments and 50% of the appointment booked if it is for an assessment.

Non-attendance at an appointment without prior notice will be charged at the full rate of the appointment scheduled. If regular cancellations and non-attendance occurs the therapist will discuss this with families as there are many families awaiting appointments. If the therapist needs to cancel, a new appointment will be scheduled as soon as possible.
