Cocoon SLT Clinic

In 2021 Lisa-Ann started her own practice in Athlone called Athlone SLT. This has since developed and grown into Cocoon SLT based in Moate, Co. Westmeath. Lisa-Ann has been working in the field for almost 15 years in a public and private capacity.  The clinic offers assessment and therapy for a range of communication areas including play skills, pre-verbal skills, speech sound skills,  understanding and use of language and development of AAC (Alternative & Augmentative Communication. The clinic supports families in developing the child’s communication skills and also with onward referral to other services that the child may require. At the forefront is ensuring that the family as a whole is looked after including answering any questions and providing any further information needed.

Lisa-Ann has experience working with language delay, Developmental Language Disorder, Neurodiversity for example Autism, speech sound disorder, hearing impairment, physical disability and children with Down Syndrome.

While based in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Cocoon Speech and Language Therapy has families travelling from many counties including Galway, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Dublin, Leitrim and Roscommon.

Lisa-Ann Roche

Lisa-Ann is a proud Wexford woman who moved to Cork in 2003 to train to become a Speech & Language Therapist in University College Cork. She graduated with an Honours Degree in 2007 and made the big move to the Midlands where she has been ever since! Lisa-Ann joined the HSE in 2007 and worked in Primary Care and Disability teams gaining valuable experience from her fellow SLT colleagues and a vast multi-disciplinary team. Lisa-Ann began working in her private practice part-time in 2010 and in 2021 opened her full-time private clinic in Athlone. She recently moved to a short distance to Moate, Co. Westmeath where she opened her newly designed clinic in November 2022.

Lisa-Ann is passionate about supporting the child and their family in a holistic and family centred approach to reach the child’s communication potential.  She is keen to find solutions and is committed to continued professional development.

Lisa-Ann takes her responsibility to families very seriously however she tries to make it a fun journey along the way!  Away from the SLT world Lisa-Ann is an enthusiastic tea drinker, who enjoys musicals and getting back to Wexford to enjoy the beach!

Registration – CORU

 

CORU is Ireland’s multi-profession health regulator responsible for regulating health and social care professionals. It includes the Health and Social Care Professionals Council and the Registration Boards established under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended).

The therapist is required to register annually with CORU and must meet certain requirements and criteria to continue to practice as a Speech & Language Therapist. CORU registered number will appear on receipts, invoices, reports, programmes and other paperwork CORU Registered Speech & Language Therapist- CORU No. SL014952

Membership

 

The Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists (IASLT) is the recognised professional association of Speech & Language Therapists in Ireland. By being a member of IASLT, the therapist is required to maintain professional and ethical standards, engage in continuous professional development for which she can be audited for among other requirements.
